How To Unpair A Bluetooth Device From Your Phone

Connect Phone to a Bluetooth Speaker

For iPhone users, simply open the Bluetooth tab in Settings, then tap the information symbol next to the name of the device you would like to unpair. From here, tap Forget This Device.

For Android users, drag down from the top of the screen and hold down the Bluetooth button. Tap Settings next to your devices name under Available media devices. If no devices are available under Previously connected devices, check See All. Tap Settings next to your accessorys name, and then select Disconnect or Forget, depending on whether you want to permanently or temporarily unpair the accessory.

Because Of A Bug On The Audio Playback App

If none of the above approaches works, it is time to check the Audio playback app you are using. If it is not muted, then it may be having a bug.

The first thing to do here is to update your audio playback application. Once updated, try to re-establish the connection. Also, ensure that the selected App is set as the default music playback app.

If this doesnt work, you should open the same music using a different media player app. This will confirm that your orginal app had an issue. You can also uninstall the app and re-install the app afresh.

To do this, go to your phone, tablet, or computers application store. Find the option for updating or uninstalling your app. Ensure that your media player app is up to date.

How To Connect Two Bluetooth Headphones And Speakers To One Phone

Most phones today allow dual audio and audio sharing capabilities i.e. the ability to play audio out of two devices at the same time. iPhone 8 models and above support Audio sharing feature, so unless you have a very old handset, chances are that your phone should offer that natively. The first step then would be to try connecting your headphones and speakers one by one to your Bluetooth when you pair them for the first time.

Similarly, if you have a Samsung Galaxy S8 series or later model, then the company natively offers a Dual Audio option that allows users to pair multiple speakers and headphones. This can be found in Bluetooth Settings. Other users can try this method, provided they have the right equipment at hand:

  • Android users need to go to Bluetooth Settings and pair either Bluetooth headphones or speakers one by one.
  • Once connected, tap the three-dot icon on the right and click on Advanced Settings. Toggle on the dual audio’ option if not already turned on. This should enable users to connect to two devices at once.
  • For users running on Android 10 and above, they can access their connected Bluetooth devices by clicking on Media in the Quick Panel and selecting both the paired devices for audio output.
  • iPhone users need to go to Control Center. Tap on Airplay icon and select either the paired wireless headphones or speakers to output audio simultaneously. Deselecting any one of the headphones or speakers will stop the sharing of audio on that particular device.

    Remove Old Bluetooth Connections

If you’re having trouble pairing your phone with the speaker, it could be because the speaker is trying to connect with another phone, laptop or tablet. Some older speakers and headphones are very simple they just try to connect with the last thing they paired with. If your headphones or speaker were previously paired with another phone, laptop or tablet, turn off that other device or Bluetooth. And if you are no longer planning on using your headphones or speaker with that device, unpair it to prevent future issues. In iOS settings, you can remove a device by tapping on its name and then Forget this Device. In Android settings, tap on a devices name, then Unpair. After removing a device, start at step 1 on this list.

Some speakers and headphones can store pairing for multiple devices. However, there is a limit to the number of devices’ pairing information that they can store. If you’re having trouble pairing headphones or a speaker that have been paired to many devices in the past, you may need to reset your headphones or speakers to clear out all of the pairings so you can start fresh. Search “reset” and your device name for instructions from the manufacturer on your specific model.

Now you can turn back on only the speaker that you wish to pair to your device. Now place the device in pairing mode and reconnect to the speaker you want to hear.

Also, you may be trying to connect to a smartphone or computer that is already connected to another audio output via the Audio-IN jack. Since Bluetooth devices can only play sound from one device at a time, you will have to disconnect the Audio IN Jack.

Once you have removed the jack, switch off both the Bluetooth speaker and your device for a few minutes. Switch your Bluetooth speaker back on and reconnect to your device.
