This is the easiest and preferred method because you dont have to lose BG data during the restart process. You can just keep looping and watching BG data on your phone, Nightscout, and Follow apps the whole time.
To use this process, you do NOT have to be using a receiver on a regular basis. We only pull the receiver out in order to do the restarts. Normally, it sits in the closet, turned off, between session restarts. I think of the receiver as a magic restart wand that we pull out of the closet every so often.
We start and finish this whole process before the session is due to expireso about 3 hours before the end of session, or sooner, we start the receiver going on the steps below.
Dexcom G6 App Not Working
One of the most common Dexcom errors isnt even on Dexcom but its app. To be more specific, in the Dexcom G6 app. Its no surprise that it has an average rating of 2.5/5.
Sometimes it may stop sending notifications or refuse to connect even when there is nothing wrong with Dexcom.
And the most common fix to such an issue is the most common one, Have you tried turning it off and on?
You can either try restarting the app on its own, or you can also reboot the smartphone as it is. Alternatively, the last resort is clearing the data off the app.
To do that on Android:
This is going to wipe everything off the app. So, its basically going to be like installing it for the first time.

If youre on iOS, chances are you wont have to do anything since its a proprietary OS, and theres not as much room for mistakes.
Why Sugarmate For Apple Watch
For one, the Sugarmate app updates your readings more frequently than the Dexcom app. On your Apple Watch, it uses the Calendar complication to update. When you set up the Sugarmate app, follow directions to send Dev data to your calendar. Choose any Apple Watch face with a calendar component and put the calendar complication on your Apple Watch face.
You can create a new calendar called Sugarmate readings and make it your default calendar.

Option : Remove The Transmitter
The G6 transmitter is surrounded by plastic entirely. The locking wings for the transmitter are located under and inside the plastic ring surrounding the transmitter, making them very inaccessible by fingers. Therefore, popping out the G6 transmitter is a bit cumbersome, requires some small pointy tool, and frankly would be a little hard to do if your sensor is in an awkward spot to reach. I managed to do it with a simple tool by myself with the sensor on my arm , so its not impossible.
Technically, if you remove the transmitter, you can replace it back onto the same sensor . This would allow you to restart a sensor session on the same sensor. Ive heard from others that leaving it out for 15 minutes helps restartsbut I have not experienced the same.
Im only mentioning this option for full disclosure of ALL the optionsbut really this shouldnt be used. Its so much easier to use one of the first two options.

Sensor Detaches Before The 10
If your sensor detaches, be sure to remove all paper backing before inserting the sensor. Hold inserter firmly against the skin for 30-60 seconds before pressing the inserter button. Immediately after insertion, rub firmly three times over the entire patch and smooth out any wrinkles.
Good skin preparation is very important for the sensor to adhere well:
- Your sensor site should be flat, clean, and completely dry before you insert the sensor.
- Scrub the site thoroughly with an alcohol wipe and let dry.
- Apply sensor patch to an area with as little hair as possible.
- Shave hair on the area where the sensor is to be applied if needed.
Dont forget to change to a new site with every sensor session.
Remove any residue from past sensors with alcohol wipes or with an adhesive remover such as Unisolve, Detachol or Tac Away. It may take time for the patch to fully dry and stick since skin types vary. During that time, keep your skin dry and avoid engaging in activities that may make you sweat.
If you insert a new sensor before bed, ensure the warmup period is complete before going to sleep.

- The Dexcom sensor has only been tested for accuracy in the abdomen.

Readings Not Matching Blood Glucose Meter
Its first important to understand that blood glucose meter readings will never exactly match the sensor reading. The degree of error in the Dexcom G6 CGM system is equal to the most accurate meters available today . Older and off-brand meters may have considerably lower accuracy than the G6 system.

There are several ways to restart a G6 sensor, listed below from easiest to hardest.
UPDATE: It used to be that I thought that you could not restart a sensor if it had expired, without using Option 3 or 4turns out this is not true! If you accidentally did not remember to start and finish Options 1 or 2 before your sensor session expired, dont fret. I have used Option 1 to restart an ended sensor . I havent personally tested how Option 2 would work in that situation, but it should work just the same.
However, do not end up in limbodont start a restart process an hour before a session ends. Either start/finish Option 1 or 2 far enough in advance that you can complete the restart entirelyor wait until the session has ended and then begin a restart. The in-between process doesnt work well, so pick a version and follow-through.
Dexcom G6 False Low Bug

My dexcom lost bluetooth conection last week and would not reconnect. It showed the Signal lost wait 30 minutes message. I got a brand new transmitter thinking that the old one was malfunctioned but now 3 days after starting new transmitter it has a signal loss as well. It started at 3:30pm today and it is now 8:00pm and still has not reconnected. I tried turning off/on bluetooth, restarting my phone and closing out all apps on iphone. Has this happened to anyone else?? Dexcom rep on phone was no help at all and told me to delete all of my other bluetooth connections and only leave the Dexcom bluetooth connection, but thats not happening. I have an iphone xr and it is up to date.
Yikes! This may be a long shot but instead of the Dexcom app I use Tandem TCONNECT. It shows me my readings but does not share as Dexcom does. I used it on an iPhone8 and now the 11. Try that one and see if you can connect. If so it may be an issue with the Dexcom app.Looking through the topics I found this older one about connection issues and a different model iPhone but you never know if something might work. The discussion also suggests a Facebook page you could check it.
