If youre after a pair of headphones for watching movies, you cant do much better than the JVC XP-EXT1. Compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound technologies, the JVC XP-EXT1 puts a 7.1.4-channel home cinema system on your head.

The key tech at work here is Exofield, JVCs proprietary processing algorithms that create a 3D soundfield between the two ear cups. The JVC XP-EXT1 cans are also able to upscale stereo or 5.1 audio to immersive multi-channel sound, and connect to a digital processor box via 5GHz RF the box itself hooks-up to a TV via HDMI.

The RS 5200 is basically an audio sender a long, slim base station attaches to either the optical or analogue audio outputs on a TV, and wireless transmits the sound to the earphones.

Not any old earphones, mind. This contraption is Y-shaped, with a receiver and battery on its stem and two arms that each host a rather large, protruding ear tip. Yes, it looks like a doctors stethoscope, and it does take some time to get used to but these TV headphones work, especially for boosting dialogue.

    Reasons to avoid

Designed to produce virtual surround sound for TV junkies and gamers, it uses a TX wireless transmitter dongle that plugs into a dock that connects via USB to any device capable of running audio through it. Once its plugged in, its all about the Creative SxFis Super X-Fi effect, which simulates a 7.1 surround array though it doesnt support Dolby Atmos or DTS.

The general rule is that this method will only allow for listening to streaming content from the device youve paired to and wont work as a catch-all solution, that is, unless youve got the 2021 version of the Apple TV 4K. That box uses an HDMI eARC connection, letting it act as an audio distribution device for any sound your TV can process.

How To Disable Dolby Atmos For Headphones

In a nutshell, Dolby Atmos enhances the sound by simulating it to be 3D. It creates three-dimensional sound effects, making the audio seem like it is coming from above you.

Dolby Atmos is not available for Bluetooth audio devices. Therefore, if you use Bluetooth headphones your audio will be affected, but they will not receive the additional 3D effects found in Samsung TVs. To disable them, you will need to manually disable the sound effects or use a different set of headphones.

If you wish to make this change, follow the steps below:

Sign in to the Smart Hub. Go to Settings Click Dolby Atmos Go to Yes to disable Atmos effects for Bluetooth headphones.

How To Pick The Best Bluetooth Audio Transmitters For Tv

Way to add any Bluetooth speaker with amazon fire tv stick for Dolby Atmos Audio [sandhikshandas]

A Bluetooth transmitter is a tool that can wirelessly transmit audio from one device to another. It works basically by adding Bluetooth to source devices that do not have it . The transmitter connects to the source device via a cable and wirelessly transmits audio to receiving devices .

    Bluetooth audio transmitter

However, picking the right Bluetooth audio transmitter for your TV is tricky because not all TVs are the same. Some only support 3.5mm audio output, which may not be compatible to your TV. The distance between you and the TV matters too. A transmitter with the right Bluetooth version to cover this range is needed else, the sound signals will be distorted.

To help you with all these, here are a list of factors to consider before buying a Bluetooth transmitter for your TV:

    What To Look For

Make them wireless and make them wonderful. In practice, there are major issues with using regular Bluetooth wireless headphones with a TV. Even if youve a smart TV that has Bluetooth, its going to be a vanilla kind of Bluetooth that will cause lip-sync delays. There are two technology solutions

    • TV headphones that communicate with a Bluetooth transmitter inserted into a TV. Theyre generally compatible with the aptX HD and aptX Low Latency codecs.
    • TV headphones that communicate with an RF base station thats connected to a TVs headphones jack.

Either way, if you want a good pair of TV headphones for this purpose, youre going to need a specific product created for that purpose. Here are some of the best headphones for watching TV.

    Connecting Through External Audio Devices

Devices like A/V receivers or even external speakers will usually have an accessible connection to plug in a pair of headphones. This is especially handy if you happen to have multiple source devices . Youll need to take a look at your hardware to see if there is a headphone output, or you could use one of the output-adapter setups we mentioned above . Most A/V receivers will have a quarter-inch headphone input in the front, which requires nothing more than a simple adapter if your headphones have a 3.5mm jack.

So What Is Dolby Atmos For Headphones

Dolby Atmos for headphones is the awesome surround sound made available through headphones or headsets. The best part is that you can use absolutely any headphones. But obviously, the quality of the sound produced in the end will depend on the quality of the headphones.

If youre wondering how surround sound can be produced from just the two speaker cups found on a pair of headphones, the answer lies in Dolby Atmos producing spatial sound.

Spatial sound is basically a virtual surround sound. These are audio signals produced in a three-dimensional virtual space. You can hear the sounds around you, including overhead and behind you.

With Dolby Atmos for headphones, films and movies sound much better than if you were using the plain televisions built-in speakers. Dolby says their technology creates a 360-degrees sound bubble.

Lets have a look at how Dolby Atmos works with headphones.
