Enjoy Tv And Streaming Services At Your Preferred Volume
With hearing loss, TV watching is often difficult and can require you to either turn the volume up to levels that are painful for others or watch with closed captioning. There can also be an uncomfortable echo if you are listening with regular hearing aids.
Rather than wrestle with others over the volume of the TV or deal with the other issues, opt to stream your TV programs to your Bluetooth hearing aids. That way, you can enjoy kicking back and easily watching your favorite shows and movies with far greater clarity and less strain.
Why Are Hearing Aids So Expensive
A standard medical-model hearing aid will set you back anywhere from a few hundred dollars, up to four thousand dollars per device. Our own price survey showed that the average price for one hearing aid was $2,560.
When you purchase a hearing aid, the first thing youre paying for is the hardwarewhich is expensive on its own. Audiologists order hearing aids through wholesale accounts and often pay over one-to-two thousand per device, depending on the technology level. Hearing aid manufacturers claim that the prices are so high due to the amount of research and development that goes into creating the products.

The next thing youre paying for is the professional services required to fit your hearing aid, which may include up to five free years follow-up care. While most hearing aids come bundled with services, it is possible to find providers who will sell you follow-up services as an add on when you purchase your hearing aids, and some others offer follow-up care on a pay-per-appointment basis.

Le Audio Hearing Aids From Bose
From 2017 to 2020, Bose Corporation sold noise-canceling headphones called Hearphones. Beyond standard music listening and noise cancellation, these devices amplified speech sounds to help individuals with hearing loss. Technically, Hearphones are not hearing aids due to FDA requirements, but they could benefit certain individuals with hearing loss.

Although Bose stopped selling Hearphones in 2020, we do happen to know that Bose submitted a De Novo Classification Request asking the FDA to certify a novel form of hearing aid. Funny enough, this FDA paperwork shows that the Bose hearing aid looks a lot like their Hearphone product.

As for whether the Bose hearing aid will include LE Audio capabilities, a recent article from Andrew Sabin, Ph.D., Lead Researcher at Bose Hear, suggests that it will.
Ultimately, the FDA approved the Bose Novo Classification Request in October 2018, so as soon as theyre ready, Bose is free to start selling this hearing aid to customers. Watch out for a Bose Bluetooth 5.2 hearing aid in 2021. The release of this product might be just around the corner.

Buying A Hearing Aid Online
The ability to buy hearing aids online eliminates some of the barriers that can prevent people from seeking care for their hearing loss. But its important to know that buying hearing aids online isnt for everyone.
In some cases, hearing loss may be caused by a medical problem such as diabetes, osteoporosis, or meningitis, and that can only be detected in a consultation with a medical doctor and an audiologist. Buying hearing aids without that intervention may let an underlying medical problem persist.
Its also important to keep in mind that getting the right hearing aid for your needs depends on your specific type and severity of hearing loss. Hearing aids bought through an audiologist are programmed individually for each person according to the results of their audiogram . Many online hearing aid companies have an audiologist who will interpret audiograms and program hearing aids, but others dont.
Some of the less expensive devices may not have the detailed programming options necessary for many types of hearing loss. These devices are considered personal sound amplification products , not a true hearing aid. That means they make everything louder, but the devices arent able to target the specific frequencies where hearing loss has occurred or filter out background noise. While these devices arent a good fit for everyone, they present an affordable option for those who might not otherwise seek any hearing care.
Bluetooth Is Today’s Cutting Edge Technology
Bluetooth technology in hearing aids has greatly elevated the hearing aid wearing experience and enable hearing aids to double as highly-personalized, custom audio devices. Its an example of using todays wireless hearing aid technology in a smart way that truly provides convenience for hearing aid wearers.

Features That May Fetch A Premium
Prices as of April 19, 2022.
Generally, youll pay about half as much when you go with one of the more affordable options listed below. In exchange, you may compromise on technology, features, and services.
Another reason were so acutely aware of the price of hearing aids is that, unlike many other medical aids and services, theyre typically not covered by health insurance. However, that might change in the near future.
Best Options For Affordable Hearing Aids
Hearing aid prices arent regulated. While some hearing clinics may not be willing to slim down their margins, you may find better deals by shopping around. It always comes down to finding the right care provider and product for your needs.
1. Check your insurance coverage and compare prices
While Medicare doesnt cover hearing aids, many private health insurances do. Third-party care providers like Epic and TruHearing work with insurances to provide hearing care benefits to their members. If your insurance is among them, you could get a large portion of the cost covered.
If your insurance covers hearing aids, be sure to ask whether they will accept out-of-network care providers. If they do, you could reach out to different hearing clinics to compare prices. Often, audiologists can offer you a better deal than your insurances third-party care provider.
2. Check for local hearing aid discounts
HearingTracker hosts a platform for audiologists to post Local Hearing Aid Discounts. This is a great place to start if youre trying to get your bearings. Youll see a selection of discounted hearing aids available in your area, how much they cost, and whats included.
3. Lower-end models from a local provider
Depending on your type of hearing loss, you may not need the most powerful technology level. For mild to moderate hearing loss, a well-fitted basic hearing aid will give you all of the benefits of better hearing, while not breaking the bank.
4. Pay for services as you go

Different Types Of Bluetooth Hearing Aid Technologies
Bluetooth classic is the type of Bluetooth found in wireless headphones, wireless speakers etc. It is by far the best sounding and most flexible type of Bluetooth for wireless audio, but it has one big issue – Battery Drain.
Hearing aids and battery drain do not mix well. If you tried to use an off the shelf Bluetooth classic chip and run that off a hearing aid battery, you might be lucky to get 20 minutes of streaming, from what I’ve heard.
The solution to this problem was delivered by Apple in the form of the Made for iPhone Hearing Aid standard. This is a low power solution that can stream audio and data. The caveat is that it streams lower quality audio compared to Bluetooth Classic and only works on post 2014 iPhones and iPads.
Google has working with GN Resound to bring to light their low energy solution called ASHA . This is available now and will only work on the latest Android phones, before it slowly rolls out to the rest of the brands and models.
Sonova, who makes Phonak as well as Unitron has released Bluetooth enabled hearing aids that use true Bluetooth Classic, but at much lower power. They are now on their third generation of Bluetooth capable hearing aids with the further improving on it. There wireless hearing aids can stream audio in stereo, not only phone calls, but any audio from any Bluetooth 4.2 or higher source. This means these hearing aids work with iPhone, Android, older flip phones, most smart phones, laptops, computers etc.
Where Can I Purchase Bluetooth Hearing Aids
Hearing aids arent yet offered over the counter like many consumer products. Instead, its common for users to purchase hearing aids directly from an audiologist, though they can also be found at stores owned by hearing aid manufacturers, other hearing aid dispensers and now certain wholesale clubs like Costco.

Things You Can Do With A Bluetooth Hearing Aid:
- Stream phone calls directly into your hearing aids.
- Stream music, movie soundtracks or podcasts directly in stereo into your hearing aids.
- Use your phone as a remote microphone for your hearing aids .
- Get your hearing aids adjusted remotely by your clinician via your recent version Smart Phone.
- With the use of a proprietary Bluetooth stereo transmitter, get your television audio in your hearing aids directly and in stereo if two aids are used.
- Use Bluetooth accessories, such as remote microphones to hear a person from across a room or across a table .
- Use smart hearing aid apps on your compatible smart phone, to function as an artificial assistant, connect the aid to your smart home, get your phone calls transcribed to text in real time, invoke artificial learning and much more .
Should I Get Fitted For A Hearing Aid
Research from 2013 studied why a group of individuals chose not to wear hearing aids, and along with other reasons, some people chose to opt out of wearing their aids due to an uncomfortable fit.
To avoid this, make sure the ones you choose fit correctly and feel comfortable in your ears, even after all-day wear.

Why Get Bluetooth Hearing Aids
Bluetooth radically expands your hearing aids capabilities. You can connect wirelessly to your television or stereo system if those devices are also Bluetooth-enabled. You can wirelessly connect to smartphones, computers, and tabletsto stream phone calls, media, or audio from video calls. This will drastically improve the audio quality in most cases, compared to using the speakers that are built-in to these devices.
Bluetooth also allows your two hearing aids to talk to each other. This helps artificial intelligence algorithms in your hearing aids to work together to improve sound localization and even automatically change programs as you move through different environments.
Many hearing aids are coming on the market with the ability to connect to two devices simultaneously. This is a game-changer because most of us want to keep our hearing aids connected to our smartphones at all times. Especially for ITC and other hearing aids that are exclusively controlled via smartphone apps, its wonderful to stay connected to your phone while also streaming audio from, for example, your television.
Simultaneous Streaming To Multiple Devices
Due to its low airtime utilization, LE Audio offers a surplus of bandwidth to enable Multi-Stream Audio. This means that a single Bluetooth source such as a tablet, television, or smartphone can stream audio to multiple devices at the same time. Therefore, two people wearing hearing aids can simultaneously stream sounds from the same device. Also, depending on the device, you may be able to connect Bluetooth 5.2 hearing aids to receive audio from your TV, smartphone, and voice assistant at the same time.
According to Nick Hunn, CTO of WiFore Consulting:
Developers will be able to use the Multi-Stream Audio feature to improve the performance of products like truly wireless earbuds. For example, they can provide a better stereo imaging experience, make the use of voice assistant services more seamless, and make switching between multiple audio source devices smoother.

We found the Silk Primax durable, sturdy and well-made. We expect the device will last many years. We appreciated the ability to reconfigure the device to accommodate ears whose hearing profile and acuity change over time.
Wearing a Silk Primax is extraordinarily comfortable. The flexible silicone sleeves conform softly but securely to nearly any ear canal. Even forgetting to take them out at bedtime wasnt an issue . The Silk Primaxs comfort is nearly as impressive as its digital intelligence.
Setting up a new, out-of-the-box Silk Primax device the first time consists simply of attaching a click sleeve, inserting the device into the ear and then configuring the devices amplifications for different frequencies as well as its several options.
What Are The Benefits Of Streaming Via Bluetooth
With Bluetooth you get a more personal listening experience. For instance, youre able to control the TV volume for your hearing aids separately from the volume on the TV . You can stream sound to one or both ears, listen to music and talk on the phone with sound being sent straight to your hearing aid. This way the sound you hear will be less prone to distortion its generally easier to hear, and sound becomes more personalised.
If youre into electronics and gadgets, youre a good candidate for a Bluetooth hearing aid. But if you prefer to keep your electronic devices as simple as possible and to not have to manage them, you may find a Bluetooth hearing aid to be more of a burden than a relief.
