How to Set Up Ingenico Link/2500 Reader with the ShopKeep Register

This happens when the Link/2500 is powered off, not located close enough to the iPad, Bluetooth is disabled on the iPad, or steps were skipped during setup.

  • Check if the Link/2500 is powered on.
  • When powered on, the Link/2500 will display the ShopKeep logo
  • If the reader will not power on, follow these steps below to troubleshoot.
  • Pair the Link/2500 with the iPad.
  • Couldnt Connect To Gateway/processor Or Can’t Reach Payment Processor

    These errors occur as a result of the iPad having little to no internet connectivity.

  • Press the iPads home button to exit ShopKeep.
  • Open Safari and perform a search.
  • If results load, force quit and re-open ShopKeep, then run the credit transaction again.
  • If search results do not load, follow the additional steps below.
  • Open Settings and tap ‘Wi-Fi’.
  • Check if the iPad is connected to the correct network.

    If the iPad is connected to the wrong network, switch it to the right one, then force quit ShopKeep and try the sale again.

  • If the problem persists, reboot the router or contact your internet service provider for help restoring the internet connection.
  • Why Isn’t My Credit Card Working

    Common issues which can result in a credit card terminal not working can include a faulty credit card terminal battery, faulty software on the credit card terminal, damage to the hardware or damage to the swipe facility where a customer would traditionally insert their card for a Chip and PIN card payment.

  • Reboot the reader and disable SSL.
  • Reboot the reader, start a transaction to initialize the reader.
  • Cancel the transaction, reboot the reader again and enable SSL.

    Link/2500 Credit Card Reader Setup

    The Ingenico Link/2500 Bluetooth Credit Card Reader connects wirelessly to the ShopKeep Register for iOS to process swiped, EMV, and contactless credit payments, allowing flexibility to carry the device with your register on the go. After charging the readers rechargeable battery, pair the reader with your iPad via Bluetooth, then connect it to the ShopKeep Register to use it to accept credit cards.

    The Link/2500 Screen Darkens After A Few Seconds

  • On the Link/2500, press ‘2’, ‘6’, ‘3’, and ‘4’ in quick succession.
  • Enter a number of seconds for the backlight to stay active, then press the green button.

    The longer the backlight stays on, the quicker the Link/2500 battery will be drained.

  • Repeat steps 7 – 8 to adjust the other backlight level.
  • Press the red button until the reader returns to the ShopKeep logo screen.

    Configure Link/2500 For Wifi Connectivity

    Use the following keypad buttons to perform specific actions:

    • Green – Confirm selection
    • Red – Cancel selection or return to previous screen
    • F2 – Scroll up
    • F3 – Scroll down
  • Confirm the card reader has fully rebooted.

  • When the Welcome screen appears, press the following keypad buttons in this order: 0, 0, 0, and 1.

    Depending on your device version you might need to press this combination instead: 0, 0, 0, and 3.

  • On the Admin menu, select 1-Communication type.

  • Press the Green keypad button.

  • On the Admin menu, select 5-WIFI.

  • Press the Green keypad button.

  • Press the Red keypad button until the Save and reboot? screen appears.

  • Select 1-Yes and press the Green keypad button.

  • Confirm the card reader has fully rebooted.

  • When the Welcome screen appears, press the following keypad buttons in this order: 0, 0, 0, and 1.

    Depending on your device version you might need to press this combination instead: 0, 0, 0, and 3.

  • On the Admin menu, select 2-WIFI Parameters.

  • Press the Green keypad button.

  • On the Admin menu, select 1-Switch on.

  • Press the Green keypad button.

  • On the Admin menu, select 2-Scan Networks.

  • Press the Green keypad button.

    The Scanning screen appears. Wait for the list of available WiFi networks to appear.

  • Select the appropriate WiFi network and enter the password if required.

  • Press the Green keypad button.

    The New Profile OK* screen appears.

  • On the Admin menu, select 6-Connection type.

  • Press the Green keypad button.

  • On the Admin menu, select 1-Server.

    Please note, the Link/2500 shipped by StayNTouch is different than the Link/2500 shipped by MerchantLink, which is for EMV devices. The table below highlights the differences between the two types of Link/2500 devices.

    PAIR THE LINK/2500 WITH AN iPAD

    Please note, pairing a Link/2500 with an iPad only works through Bluetooth and when using the StayNTouch Cloud PMS application on the iPad. To pair the Link/2500 with an iPad, follow the steps below:

  • Turn on Bluetooth connection from Settings > Bluetooth on your iPad.
  • To pair, press 0, 0, 0, then 1 on the Link/2500.
  • Use the F3 button to go to 3 – Bluetooth Parameters. Click the green button to confirm your selection.

    Gateway Error Or Communication With Processor Failed

    These errors can occur for a few different reasons, such as an input mistake.

  • If the error occurs while swiping cards, check that the card reader was purchased from ShopKeep.

    Only card readers purchased from ShopKeep will work properly.

  • If the error occurs while manually entering a card, re-enter the card information.

    You may have made a mistake while keying in the card number.

  • If the problem persists, contact Customer Care for further assistance.
  • Turn The Reader Off And On

    Turn the Link/2500 off to conserve battery power when it will not be used for an extended period of time. When the reader is needed again, turn it back on.

  • Unplug the Link/2500 from power, if connected.

    Pair Ingenico Icmp Card Reader To An Ipad

    To accept credit card payments, you will need to pair your Ingenico iCMP card reader with your iPad. Note that the iPad must already have the Zenoti Mobile POS installed.

    Important: Ingenico announced the withdrawal of sale for the iCMP card readers from the end of 2019. Support for iCMP will be provided till the end of 2021. Zenoti recommends to use Ingenico ISMP4 as a replacement.

    To pair your Ingenico iCMP card reader to your iPad

    1. Ensure that your Ingenico iCMP card reader is adequately charged.

    2. On the iPad, open settings and turn on Bluetooth.

    3. Turn the Ingenico iCMP card reader on by pressing the power button on the right.

    The BT Pairing Required message appears on the card reader.

    If you do not see the see the BT Pairing Required message, see the Troubleshooting section at the end of this article.

    4. When BT Pairing Required message appears, press the F1 button.

    5. Scroll and find your iPad by using the F2 or F3 keys.

    These errors appear when an employee swipes something other than a credit card, such as a gift card. It can also occur if a cards magnetic strip is damaged.

  • Swipe a valid credit card.
  • If the swipe fails, manually enter the card information or swipe a different card.
  • If the card is a ShopKeep gift card, tender the sale as Gift Card and swipe again.
  • Contact Customer Care for further assistance.
  • Card Reader Firmware Update

    Link/2500 Credit Card Reader Setup

    This message indicates a firmware update is available for download to improve the connectivity and reliability of the card reader. The update can be completed when the prompt occurs or after business hours.

  • Tap Update Now on the prompt or Update Device from Integrated Hardware on the Main Menu.
  • Do NOT touch the iPad or card reader during the update.
  • If necessary, reconnect the card reader after the update is complete.

    The Link/2500 Disconnects From My Ipad Throughout The Day

    If the Link/2500 needs to be reconnected to the iPad multiple times a day, there may be an issue with the Bluetooth connection between the reader and iPad.

  • Disable the ‘Auto-Lock’ setting.
  • Leave the ShopKeep Register app open at all times.
  • Keep the iPad and reader at least a few feet away from potential sources of wireless interference.

    This includes other Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, microwaves, and similar devices.

  • Make sure the reader is located within about 30 feet of the iPad.

    Exact Bluetooth range will vary based on environmental factors.

  • The Card Readers Screen In Shopkeep Does Not List The Link/2500

    This issue can occur for a few different reasons. The Link/2500 might not be powered on or paired with the iPad, Bluetooth access may be disabled for the ShopKeep Register app, or the reader could be connected to a different register.

  • Check if the reader is powered on.

    If the reader will not power on, follow these steps to troubleshoot that issue.

  • Make sure the Link/2500 is located within 30 feet of the register.

    Exact Bluetooth range will vary based on environmental factors.

  • On the iPad, open the Settings app, tap Bluetooth, and make sure Bluetooth is enabled.

    These errors mean either the Credit Card #, Expiration Date, Billing ZIP, or CVV were entered incorrectly for a manual credit transaction.

  • Most credit card numbers are at least 14 digits and begin with 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6.

    To power on Link/2500, press the Green keypad button.

    To power off Link/2500, unplug the device then press the .,#* and Yellow keypad buttons simultaneously.
