How To Play Audio From Your PC/Laptop to a Bluetooth Speaker – Step by step

Heres how to use your Google Home Smart Assistant as a Bluetooth speaker for any music streaming service. You can also set up audio in multiple rooms with a pair of Bluetooth speakers, just as you can with two or more Google Home. If your Google Home has trouble hearing you after youve paired the Bluetooth speaker, make sure youre talking to Google Home itself and not the newly paired Bluetooth speaker. If Google Home cant find the speaker, check that the speaker is in pairing mode and, if theres a physical switch to turn on Bluetooth, that the switch is in the on position.

The more uses I can think of, the more I like using the Google Nest as a Bluetooth speaker. The instructions above allow you to pair and connect the speaker to Google Home only once, so each time you do this, the music will continue to play through the Bluetooth speaker until you turn it off or it disconnects. Starting today, you can connect a Bluetooth speaker to your Google Home without buying a separate Chromecast dongle. Name the group, choose the speakers you want to sync, and the next time you ask Google Home to play a song, your music will stream to Bluetooth speakers in two different rooms.

Playing sounds from your iPhone on a Bluetooth device is a three-step process: enable Bluetooth on both devices, pair the devices, and then start the music stream.

  • On the iPhone, enable Bluetooth if it isn’t turned on. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap the on/off slider to the On position or open the Control Center and tap the Bluetooth icon to turn it on.

  • On the Bluetooth device, turn on pairing mode. Either press the Pairing button or enable a setting from a companion app.

If it’s not obvious how to enable Bluetooth on the other device, contact the support team for the device or look through the owner’s manual.

  • Place the iPhone within 30 feet of the Bluetooth device.

  • On the iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth andtap the device to pair it with the phone.

If you haven’t paired the device with your phone, it is listed in the Other Devices section, or its status says Not Paired. If you have paired with this device before, it reads Not Connected.

  • At this point, what you see on the screen varies depending on the Bluetooth device, how it pairs with devices, and whether it is a new device or one that you’ve connected to before.

For a new device, a pairing request prompt asks you to confirm a code provided by the Bluetooth device. When the codes match, press Pair.

For an existing Bluetooth device, the device plays a sound to indicate a successful connection. Once paired, the Bluetooth screen on the iPhone displays Connected next to the device.

Bluetooth Pairs And Connects But Won’t Play Audio

    Hello all,

The basic info: I have a Dell XPS-15 running Windows 10, a Denon AVR-S710W receiver and Google Wifi. The receiver is hardwired to one of the Google Wifi pucks.

Through iTunes, I’m able to use Apple Airplay to play my music library through my receiver and speakers, but I’d like to play other sorts of music through the receiver & speakers as well. I figured I could do this via Bluetooth and ran into some problems.

I was able to pair the Dell with the receiver, and it not only says Paired but Connected. However, I can’t select it as an output device. Though it says Connected, if I go to Sound Control Panel, it shows up in the Playback tab as Disconnected. If I right-click and hit Connect, nothing happens.

As a test, I also tried connected a JBL speaker I have. I had no issues getting that paired, connected or using it. When I look at my Bluetooth devices, the Receiver comes up as headphones and just says “Connected”, but the JBL speaker comes up as a speaker and says “Connected voice, music”. See the picture:

Per information I’ve found on Google and on other posts on this forum, I’ve done the following steps already. I’ve done each of these three times throughout the day to make sure they weren’t the issue:

    * Ran the Bluetooth and Sound Troubleshooter .

    * All drivers and firmware is updated.

    * Stopped and started the Bluetooth service

    * Removed the Receiver from the Bluetooth devices and then resinstalled

    * Rebooted the PC and restarted the receiver

  • Use Alexa Commands With Cortana

Microsoft’s Cortana is available as a skill — but rather than just being a skill, it opens the door to a completely separate digital assistant through your Alexa speakers.

Once you’ve added the skill, enabled permissions and connected your Microsoft and Amazon accounts, just say, “Alexa, open Cortana.” When you’re speaking to Cortana you can check your emails, ask for the next event on your calendar or add items to your to-do list.

For now, the Cortana skill is limited because it’s a public preview of what the full integration will be in the future.

Anything wireless requires compressing the audio, which can lead to a loss of musical detail . For a list of our recommended analog stereo options, check out our guide.
