Rymek Retro Bluetooth Mechanical Keyboard Review
Craving a keyboard that looks like a typewriter machine?
If so, check the Rymek keyboard review. This board has the most authentic retro design compared to other remarkable typewriter keyboards. Suppose I need to address one significant difference, the lovely metal curve at the back. This addon makes this keyboard a faithful reproduction.
Beyond that, the Rymek has ergonomically saddle-shaped keycaps and a glossy, durable surface, contributing to the overall typewriter experience. There is also a one-side scroll knob in which you can easily adjust the volume while you listen to music or watch videos.
The Rymek board is portable with 83 keys, a Bluetooth connection, and a wired USB mode. The return joystick is used to switch between the modes. This keyboard also has nice seven white LED-backlit effects, which can boost your typing accuracy at night and make your overall typing experience more fun.
Some of these effects are amazing, such as the ripple mode in which the lights are spread when you press the keys. On the downside, I found that the Rymek keyboard can hold only 10-inch tablets and smartphones and not larger devices unless you use an external stand.
If you wish to invest your money in authentic typewriter design, Rymek should be your choice. It has the best retro look, and it has groove tech features which make it one of the most excellent typewriter keyboards.

Manoeuvering Is Not Convenient
The Rymek is created to accompany tablets and smartphones to make working on these devices a breeze. Scrolling through the screens will not be too difficult as well.
However, working on a laptop not as convenient. Its no fun playing Mister Fantastic, twisting your wrist pass the keyboard to get to the trackpad. The metal handle has to be removed in order to control the trackpad, and thats not easy. Of course, the ideal solution is to use a mouse but that defeats the purpose of product minimalism.

The Rymek retro Bluetooth mechanical keyboard is an interesting take on a mechanical keyboard. AppleInsider got to spend a bit of time with it ahead of the crowdfunding campaign.
It should be noted upfront, we have a fondness for retro-design inspired electronics. We’ve found ourselves drawn to many of the nostalgic Lofree products including their keyboard and Bluetooth Poison speaker. The Rymek Bluetooth mechanical keyboard fits right into the niche, immediately piquing my interesting.
What it is, is a well-made Bluetooth keyboard in a design reminiscent of an antique typewriter. Of course, many current niceties are built in including some impressive light displays, quality mechanical switches, and metal accents.
We tested out the Rymek keyboard for a bit and have developed some polarizing first impressions.
Right out of the gate, it is clear that this keyboard isn’t for everyone. It has a bit of an eccentric design that only a portion of the possible audience for an external keyboard will appreciate. We did enjoy the aesthetics, but had a few issues with build quality.
The carriage return bar on the left is used to easily swap between USB mode and Bluetooth.
Youll Need To Touch To Know
Its impossible to resist touching the backlit saddle-shaped keycaps. Theyre smooth and soft, and the deep clicking sensation makes every tap therapeutic.
Youll start typing non-stop and yes, this article is completely typed with the Rymek notice how zen this article is? Typing on the keycaps produce a crisp, tactile sound loud enough for the neighbours to hear us, but thats the beauty the mechanical keyboard, no?
The Rymek comes in three mechanical switches: The Gateron Blue Switch and Cherry MX Blue Switch are clicky and generate a typewriter sound. As for the Cherry MX Brown Switch, it comes with the tactile bump feeling and a quieter clicking sound. The Unit we received is built with the Gateron Blue Switch hence the loud clicking sound compared to the other switches.

It Doesnt Stay Connected At All Times
The vintage-looking lever on the left functions to easily switch between the Bluetooth and wired mode, especially when theres a need to connect to two devices at the same time. On the right side, the knob acts as a volume control with a muting function.
Although, the Bluetooth connection is rather unsatisfying. There are four Bluetooth modes that are supposed to connect to four devices, but mode One to Three are constantly sleeping except for mode Four. That being said, theres an issue with the fickle-minded Bluetooth connection. It would go on and off in split seconds, hence the birth of typos. Not to mention, the Rymek would occasionally rewrite the functions on the laptops trackpad, which can be pretty annoying.

Retro & Bluetooth The Rymek Mechanical Keyboard
Submitted by Teoh Yi Chie on June 17, 2018 – 11:08pm
Here’s my first retro keyboard, a Bluetooth mechanical keyboard called Rymek that was sent over from KnewKey. I don’t like to review tech products unless it is art related but this keyboard is a work of art itself.
I’m not really familiar with retro keyboards but apparent, there are already , as I was told in the Youtube comments section of the video review that I just published. It’s always good to have options to choose from.
KnewKey has the Rymek keyboard up on Indiegogo to raise funds to make more. The goal was to reach US$20,000 and they have already surpassed it.
This keyboard is usable on Windows and Mac although the layout is for Mac. You can use it wirelessly or with cable . To pair the keyboard is just like pairing any other Bluetooth devices. For some reason, the keyboard is detected as “MX520” rather than in its own name in Bluetooth.
For Windows users, the position of the Win key on this keyboard may throw you off. Typical Windows keyboard has the Win key between the Ctrl and Alt keys.
You can pair this keyboard with up to three devices. Using the Fn buttons, you can switch between the devices you use easily at the press of a button.
The Fn buttons are also configured with multi-media functions, just like those you may find on some Mac keyboards.
The keys can be removed and replaced.
There are two colours available for the keyboard. The other is Caramel White with orange keys.

Rymek Mechanical Bluetooth Keyboard Review
Mechanical keyboards are all the rage right now. Just about everywhere we turn we find someone sharing their new mechanical keyboard so popular are they that theres an active Reddit community of some 362,000 subscribers.
Were an Android site, and we talk about mobile tech. Why do we care about mechanical keyboards all of a sudden? Well, as it turns it, you can have a little bit of both worlds.
Last summer we learned about the Rymek retro-style mechanical keyboard with Bluetooth capabilities. Designed to resemble old school, vintage typewriters, it supports both wired and wireless connectivity. Naturally, we asked to check one out.
Upon opening the box we immediately fell in love with it. See, sometimes you find tech that looks great in photos and on paper only to learn in person that its not all that awesome. Thats not the case here. In the real world this thing looks, and feels, incredible.
With a black base and rose gold color for the keys, the Rymek looks like something youd find in your great-grandmothers attic. Yet, somehow it would also not surprise us to see it in a Blade Runner or Black Mirror setting, too.
You know that flat, quiet experience you often get with Bluetooth keyboards? Usually thin, minimalist, and otherwise boring? This isnt it. No, this is a keyboard thats not only clicky and a little noisy, but its a conversation starter, too.

So Would We Buy It Or Not
The Rymek is a remarkable product, no doubt about that. It looks amazing on your desk, the keycaps and the lights are attractive, but its not something you would want to use when working on deadlines because of its disappointing Bluetooth connection. The Rymek Retro Bluetooth Mechanical Keyboard retails from USD 99.00 at indiegogo.com.

Wireless And Wired Connection Supported
Rymek adopts Bluetooth 3.0 and supports iOS, Android, macOS and Windows with a highly stable connection. You can pair with 3 devices and easily switch with shortcuts.
Rymek also supports USB connection, so you can use Rymek with your Windows, Linux OS or other operating system computer. We also design dual USB port so that Rymek can better suit your setup. Simply use its vintage handle to switch between Bluetooth and USB mode.
First Impression Is Everything
Most retro-designed kitchen appliances and stationeries come in pastel colours to give you a sense of nostalgia. Rymek, however, went for a cool and timeless look with a black frame and rose gold keycaps instead.
The five-mode backlit keyboard got us all hooked just hit the fn and del buttons and the effects will start rolling. Our favourite goes to mode Four – hit on a key and a wave of light will flow through the entire keyboard.
Mode One takes you to disco world, as the lights will blink continuously . Though, this function can become a distraction and may disrupt work productivity. Mode Two has an interesting side as well, where the caps will light up slowly and fall into a dim.
Not Just Pretty But Practical
Speaking of functional aesthetics, the scroll knob on the right is how you adjust your media volume. Its not just for looks or to remind you of how things used to be in a paper world its practical.
The internal battery on the keyboard is 2,000mAh, or way more than youd normally expect from a simple Bluetooth unit. But, when you factor in various light effects and usage, it will have an impact. With that said, its estimated that youll get about 50 hours out of a single charge.

Just what I wantedThe keyboard is just what I was looking for to write with my iPad. It is sturdy without being really heavy and cumbersome. I love the feel of it and the sound it makes. It did take longer than I expected to get it linked to my devices initially, but now links seamlessly.Pro:- the body of this keyboard is nicely weighted and felt very sturdy, can comfortably support the weight of an iPad- comes with a bunch of stuff with indiegogo preorder- pretty- switch between devices smoothly, no problem with connectivity- fun and satisfying to type on

DisappointingDisappointed. I was glad to receive the keyboard and used it for one day. The next day, the only keys still working was the arrow keys. All keys lit up while typing but the arrow keys were the only ones that functioned. I tried contacting support and got nowhere. Product is now getting returned for refund.
Keys are wearingLess than 2 months and keys are already wearing.
